The William Floyd High School Counseling Center recently held their annual On-site College Admissions Day, which resulted in more than 200 student meetings with college representatives and approximately 150 on-the-spot acceptances. The colleges in attendance were SUNY Old Westbury; SUNY Farmingdale; LIU Post; Molloy College; St. Joseph’s College; Briarcliffe College; Utica College; Mercy College; Suffolk County Community College; Dowling College; and the BOCES Adult Education program.
During the day, college representatives met with seniors to evaluate their transcripts and applications and the offerings available at their institutions. Seniors also had the opportunity to sit down and discuss their goals and interests. Earlier in the school year, the Counseling Center held three Suffolk County Community College only On-site Admissions Days which resulted in 141 on-the-spot acceptances.
“On-site Admissions Day brings students face-to-face with college recruiters and offers them a chance to discuss their goals and if that particular college is a good fit for them,” said Gerilyn Wright, Director of Students Services, William Floyd School District. “This is just one more way that we engage students on the path of being career and college ready.”
