Once again this year, the Board of Education and District Administration urge residents to actively participate in the budget development process for the upcoming school year. As described in the letter which will be mailed to all residents, this year is expected to be filled with even more challenges than last year as we are faced with the loss of funding from the Federal government’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the possibility of mid-year cuts to State Aid, the reality of the State’s challenging fiscal condition and resulting inability to fulfill their commitments to school districts, and the likelihood of a State-imposed cap to the District’s ability to generate revenue locally through property taxes. Please assist us in developing a budget for 2012-13 which is considerate of taxpayers and maintains our core mission of educating our children and preparing them for the future.
